About
Nobody teaches the practice. So we do.
Every law school in India teaches intellectual property the same way. One semester, one textbook, the sections of the Trade Marks Act in order and forty judgments summarised. You learn that Section 9 exists. You learn what the Supreme Court said in Novartis. Then you graduate, join a firm, and someone hands you an examination report due in thirty days. Nobody has ever shown you what a reply looks like.
That gap is not a secret. Every senior associate in the country learned the work by watching somebody else do it, copying old drafts off the firm server, and getting it wrong a few times on live matters. It is an apprenticeship model with no apprenticeship. It takes about three years, and most people who go through it would not call it teaching.
VIDIKSHA exists because the practice of IP law is a skill, and skills are taught by repetition on real material. Not lectures about the material. The material.
So every course here is built around documents: actual examination reports with the client details removed, actual licences, actual oppositions. You read the document, you draft your response, you compare it with ours and with the version the Registry eventually accepted. Then you do the next one.
We do not teach definitions, because you already have them. We do not summarise cases, because you can read. We teach the forty things a competent practitioner does between receiving a document and sending one back, in the order they do them.
If you want to understand IP law, there are many good places to go. If you want to do it, you are in the right one.
How we teach
Four rules we do not break
Start from the document
Every lesson opens with a real filing, report or contract. Theory enters only when the document demands it, and leaves as soon as it is done.
Draft before you watch
You attempt the exercise first. The walkthrough is the second thing you see, never the first. That order is where the learning happens.
Model answers, not model students
Every exercise ships with the draft we would file and the reasoning behind each paragraph. Compare, then fix yours. No grades, no leaderboards.
Current, or gone
When a rule, a form or Registry practice changes, the lesson is re-recorded within the month or pulled. Nothing here is from 2019.
